Nature and Environment
Along the coast of Koufonisia, from Pariano to Pori, there are small, magic bays with sandy beaches which alternate with caves worn into the rock by the sea. In general terms, the beaches that are on the east side of the island are better and the vegetation is denser there.

A path can lead you to the most beautiful beaches such as Harokopou (Phoinikas), Platia Pounta, which is the most popular, Phanos and Pori, both less crowded but beautiful. Pori, which is told to be the best beach of all, is 4km away from Chora, but it is worth visiting. The beachside road is longer than it seems, and in any case the second path, in the interior of the island, is better. On the footpath you will see white lilies, a rare species that is met only in Cyclades. Moreover, there are some beaches on Kato Koufonisi that can be accessed only by small boats (caiques). The sandy beaches are ideal for quiet holidays and isolation.
